ORIGINAL OIL PAINTINGS
Hi Art Lovers,
Somewhere out there, a sailing boat canvas is making its way to me—carefully wrapped, crossing distances, carrying a quiet sense of anticipation with it.
There’s always a moment before a piece arrives… a pause between creation and reality. This one feels particularly special.
I’ve chosen a letterbox format for this piece—something about that long, narrow shape draws me in. It gives space for the eye to wander, for the scene to breathe. It felt right for this image. I’ve also entrusted it to a different Giclée printer, who is as good as the former but who specialises in this longer style shape and is also known for quality.
It should arrive by the end of the week. There’s something I never tire of—that first unveiling. Carefully opening the packaging, seeing whether the colours, the light, the feeling… have all made the journey intact.
Meanwhile, in the studio, things have been quietly taking shape. Three A3 canvases, side by side, slowly building into something larger. It’s detailed work—patient work—but that’s where I find the joy. Every brushstroke adds something, even when progress feels slow.
I’ll admit, I haven’t been as present here lately. Painting has a way of holding my full attention, and life beyond the canvas has needed me too. With an elderly parent in my thoughts, I’m learning to move at a slightly different pace—finding balance where I can.
Even capturing the work has its challenges—three canvases and a camera aren’t the easiest companions—but I suspect my wife may quietly step in and capture a few moments along the way.
So the journey continues. A little slower perhaps, but no less meaningful.
And I’m grateful you’re here to share it with me.
